Fariborz Ghadar, known as FG, is the William A. Schreyer Professor of Global Management Policies at the Smeal College and founding Director of The Center for Global Business Studies.

FG is a leading authority on future business trends, global economic assessment, global corporate strategy and implementation, leadership development, e-business, and international finance and banking. He holds a PhD in business administration from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He also holds two master's degrees, an M.B.A. from Harvard and a M.S. in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and two B.S. degrees from MIT, one in biomedical engineering and one in chemical engineering.

Prior to his position at Pennsylvania State University, FG was the chairman of the International Business Department at George Washington University Graduate School of Business and Public Management. FG held a vice-ministerial post in Iran during the Shah's regime, has served as an investment banker at the International Finance Corporation at the World Bank group, and was the research coordinator of the Harvard Multinational Enterprise Project. Business Week magazine named him one of the top 10 “Stars of Finance,” and he was selected as one of the top 10 Thought Leaders and Practitioners of Strategy Coaching in “Profiles in Coaching: The 2004 Handbook of Best Practice in Leadership Coaching.”

Research
FG specializes in researching emerging multifunctional business issues that shape the global environment. The Center links corporations and Penn State together to share their knowledge of the most recent business practices, theories, and research. Communication among this broad and international group requires long distance educational opportunities offered using new technologies and symposia, such as those offered through the William A. Schreyer Symposium Series that facilitate discussion.

FG is the author of more than 15 books, including the soon-to-be-released “Global Tectonics: What Every Business Needs to Know,” the well received “Financing Growth in Developing Economies,” and “New Information Technology and Its Impact on Global Business Management.” He is frequently quoted in internationally circulated publications and has been a featured speaker and an interviewee on major television networks and business broadcasts.

FG has served as a consultant to a score of major corporations, governments, and government agencies and regularly conducts programs for executives of major multinational corporations in the United States and abroad. His clients have included Aramco, AT&T, BASF, CalPERS, Cisco, Dow, Eastman Chemical, Kodak, Ericsson, LG Group, Lucent Technologies, Rockwell International, Trivent, UBS, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Weyerhaeuser, and the World Bank, among others.

Education
FG received his MBA & doctorate from the Harvard Business School. Prior to this, he received his masters in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from MIT.
